Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why are your boards so cheap?
I think inexpensive is the right term!
Our boards are made from top of the range Australian and American materials. We mainly deal in liquidated imported product which ends up in our racks as clearance stock. These boards are shaped overseas and imported by our suppliers who manufacture the majority of leading brands in Australia and across the globe.
We have both Australian boards and Imported boards in our store, all at exceptional prices. Our setup is also very basic to keep overheads down, most of our signs are even done by hand.
Q. Do you import surfboards?
No, we don’t import surfboards.
This is a common assumption made by the surf industry.
The Surfboard Warehouse has never imported surfboards. We buy from importers and suppliers all over the country like every other surf store in Australia.
We support local shapers and purchase their stock outright. We are a retailer, not an importer.
Q. What is your famous warranty?
All of our surfboards are made from top of the range materials. We offer the same warranty as our suppliers.
This warranty covers our customers for 12 months from date of purchase against manufacturers defects. Some of our boards have a lifetime warranty and these are clearly labeled. If there is a problem with our product due to a manufacturers defect we will swap it for a new item or refund our customer.
Unfortunately this doesn’t cover someone if they change their mind or damages to product as the result of impact or force.
Q. Where are your roots?
Tim has lived in Burleigh Heads for 29 years. His parents came here from Papua New Guinea when he was 3.
He went to Elanora High where he completed his Level 1 in surf judging and did a whole lot of time in the shaping bay both in and out of school. He ran a manufacturing business for 13 years out of Burleigh and Currumbin and eventually had to sell due to imported products which were cheaper than what he could produce them for.
He was then invited to be national sales manager for a large surfboard manufacturer and from there was offered a job managing the all new Billabong owned Kirra Surf. He ran that for nearly 2 years and then decided he would like to do his own thing.
The Surfboard Warehouse was born! Running it along side his business partner Avalon and dedicated team of staff…. doing our own thing.
“Our roots are in Burleigh and the Gold Coast. We don’t intend on moving anywhere. Unless the waves are good in Indo for a few weeks a year” : )
