We first met Jamie when we had only just opened up. We had an old, used, beat up SUP for sale and this guy rocked up and asked if he could buy it. He told me that he used to ride for a few companies but had broken his neck in Bali a few years ago and could no longer surf.

The surgery he had on his spine prevented him from lifting his head which in turn stopped from being able to see when he was laying on a surfboard.
We instantly hooked him up with the best deal possible and he walked out with the old SUP and a huge smile, stoked that he could finally get in the ocean again.

A week later someone came in and told me that they had seen him pull someone from the water on this new board and bring them back to life before returning them to an awaiting Ambulance on the shore. We then kept hearing stories about this guy (Jamie) paddling out in huge surf and taking off behind the rock at Currumbin Alley. Then the photos poured in of Jamie smashing the lip, doing 360′s and carving perfect arcs.

We sponsored him straight away!

Jamie is now our crash test dummy for most of our SUPs and we are proud to have him actively involved with our store. Not only is he one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet, he is also one of the best Stand Up Paddle Boarders in Australia.

Although Jamie has been to hell and back with his severe injuries, which continue to impair his day to day living, he will never complain, always smile and remain positive and go out of his way to help others. Jamie donates his time to people with disabilities and shares his stoke with them.

Jamie is a true patriot for the sport of Stand Up Paddle Boarding and an ambassador for The Surfboard Warehouse.

Jamie O’Meara is now running Stand Up Paddle Board lessons through our store and using his wisdom to help others love and appreciate his favourite sport.

Bookings are essential and Jamie can be contacted on – 0431 391 770

Adrenalin skate street surfer, and we have just had our demo boards arrive at the Surfboard Warehouse today.

If it wasn’t raining I know what I’d be doing in my lunch break.

It’s the closest thing to surfing on land!

Revolutionary articulated front truck allows lateral thrust
and propels the board forward it’s the closest thing to surfing the streets!

These boards have all the performance of a regular skateboard PLUS the ability to pump and self propel for travel on the flat or extra speed for doing tricks.

The deck is a retro styled 32″x10″ Maple single kick, with the shape inspired by fat-boy cruisers from the 1980s.

The Gold Coast Bulletin recently ran a press release on SIN eyewear about their latest campaign shoot with Top 40 Gold Coast’s sexiest finalist Jessica Green as the face.

The shoot was done in December locally at Oskars on Burleigh Point and local cafe Commune. Tim and I were having a coffee the day they were shooting at Commune and wondering what the fuss was all about….now we know.

The SIN eyewear range has something for all ages at amazing prices. UV 400 at just $39.95 and polarised $49.95!

Perfect for spotting sea life while Stand Up Paddle boarding. Tim and I are off to the snow later this month and I know we will be rocking our polarised lenses on the slopes.

I have recently watched the documentary “SharkWater“.

I truly believe everyone needs to see this film!

We have all grown up with the preconception that sharks are these man hunting viscous killers that often add swimmers and surfers to their daily menu. This is the first piece of information that the statistics in “Shark Water” falsify.

Since I started surfing last year I have struggled with feeling comfortable in the water. I have tried wiping from my mind the images I saw as a little girl watching the “Jaws” movies.

Still to this day I have adult educated friends afraid to swim in ocean because of their fear of sharks.

Our oceans are the most beautiful gift nature has given us. The more of these documentaries I watch the more informed I become and realise the danger they are in.

Danger of being fished out, of being completely polluted, and the danger of losing some of our oldest and most majestic creatures on this earth.

Synopsis

“For filmmaker Rob Stewart, exploring sharks began as an underwater adventure. What it turned into was a beautiful and dangerous life journey into the balance of life on earth.

In an effort to protect sharks, Stewart teams up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Their unbelievable adventure together starts with a battle between the Sea Shepherd and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives”

Please everyone next time your in the movie store rent SharkWater!

After watching this film I had a strong urge to HELP! There is a simple form on the website you can fill out to share the sharkwater.com story with friends.

And if you’re in the position to donate you can also do that through PayPal.

Surfboard Warehouse is already a proud supporter of the WWF but I find myself logging straight into my PayPal account to check the balance and scouring the garage for some of the quiver that can be reduced to give to such a worthy cause.

This film has changed the way I think about Sharks. I have a new confidence in the water which has added to my enjoyment of surfing.

We all deserve to be educated and be given a choice to HELP and create awareness to a HUGE concern that effects all of us.

Thanks for reading.

My father is a great man.

He has brought me up with solid water knowledge and shared his love of the ocean and it’s lifestyle with me.

I have great memories of growing up in Papua New Guinea being towed at high speed on the back of his windsurfer.

I also remember moving to the Gold Coast when I was 5 and riding on his shoulders holding onto his thumbs as he dragged me out the back.

My first hand me down surfboard (Hotstuff single fin) that he pushed me onto my first wave. Early morning surfs before school and that buzz which killed my attention span but let my creative skills flow.

Made Me Make My Own Way Out

And all the bitching and moaning I put him through every time he left me to my own demise and made me make my own way out to Burleigh Point from the beach.

He taught me everything I know about the ocean and the respect i have for it. Now I get to pass this onto my beautiful partner Avalon as I watch her progress through her new found quest for the perfect wave.

Still A Dedicated Surfer & My Hero

I guess I was the same as any other boy but I was just fortunate that my dad was and still is a dedicated surfer and my hero.

The old mans in his late Sixties now and still surfs pretty much every day like a grommet and still calls me (while I’m at work) to tell me about the waves he’s caught, dolphins he’s seen, crowd thats pissed him off and basically his love for the ocean.

If you see my old man in the water, say gidday, share a wave and his stoke… it’s addictive.

Cheers

Tim

We were meant to be riding logs at the Pass in Byron Bay but instead we find ourselves dodging logs at creek crossings in a Ford F100 out the back of Mullumbimby.

On Sunday afternoon we decided to visit Avalon’s family farm at Main Arm 30 minutes west of Byron Bay.

We threw in the back two wood grain epoxy 9 footers that customers have come back raving about.

Avalon has been chomping at the bit to ride one of these new lightweight logs at The Pass (one of our fav breaks).

With the demise of holiday crowds and an influx of swell… we assumed our timing would be perfect!? Man, were we wrong!

4 Creek Crossing All 2 Metres Underwater!

As you might know, it has been bucketing down here in Northern New South Wales and Queensland.

There are 4 creek crossings in between Main Arm and the Pacific Highway.

They are all 2 metres underwater = NO SURFING

The board response is AMAZING!

Floats like a 9’6 and surfs like a 6’0. While filming this and shooting it in Tallebudgera Creek mouth we were visited by two dolphins which capped the day off : )

The conditions were great in the creek for paddling but the wind in the mouth where we were surfing was terrible. 15 knot cross shore winds made everything difficult but the few waves I (kook) caught, I was amazed at how well this board performed.

I was so impressed that I actually took the board home as my own after the shoot!
