Product Description

The AQSS Salient is a strong, well-balanced board.

It is a great option for a beginner who is wanting to look-the-part or transitioning from a learner style board.

It is perfect for someone looking for a higher volume board, without losing manoeuvrability and responsiveness.

The Salient is also a great addition to the quiver for surfers wanting to have a little more for those bigger days.

It has a high-density EPS core, bamboo inlay (deck & bottom) and double 6oz fiberglass on the deck (6oz + 4oz bottom) and gives you strength and durability you can rely on in the most critical situations.

The centre single fin box, combined with the dual tab side fin configuration, makes the Salient very versatile allowing you to ride the board as a 2+1, a single fin or thruster.

It has a gradual rocker and subtle single concave which gives the Salient plenty of down-the-line speed and drive. It has a slight vee running through the tail which will allow the board to transition from rail to rail with ease.

The rounded pin tail allows for tight carving turns in the pocket whilst giving you maximin hold in hollow waves.

Best suited for beginners to experienced riders wanting a durable all-round board for all conditions.

  1. Salient is a good all rounder great wave catcher

Posted by Simon Smith on 10th Feb 2019

This board has a forgiving outline a slight concave but I think it's best feature is the v in the TAIL. The v enables you to transfer from one rail to another smoothly, also it allows you to cut back with ease or slash/ snap back like Ian Cairns Would! Suitable for any ability level. I have been surfing for over 50 years and at 60 with a recent shoulder injury found I was popping up a bit slow with the extra float and volume I can get to my feet quicker and catch more waves therefore getting more practise and accelerating my recovery. Have been surfing it as a thruster and can not fault it. Once again the simple but effective v in the TAIL is I believe it's greatest assert. Board was delivered in a few days, packed and bubble wrapped. Thanks Beau and crew for an enjoyable on line shopping experience.Regards Simon Smith

  2. Performance in a midlength

Posted by Simon on 22nd Aug 2018

I have been looking for a new board for ages and wasn't happy with most of the shapes I was looking at from a heap of companies. All I could find was really round and full shapes that looked very beginner based in a mid length but came across this board online. I am wrapped with her, the pin tail really performs and gives me what I want out of a board but still has that extra foam to get me into just about anything, I find this board to be the perfect blend of paddle power and performance and you aren't sacrificing one or the other its a really good fit.
